Community ACCESS-Ability Program: This program reflects the Government of Nova Scotia's commitment to people with disabilities, by providing equal opportunity and improved access to community facilities.
Rebate information and application on computer purchase (provincial): Rebate is equal to the lesser of $375.00 or the provincial portion of the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) paid on the purchase of a computer by an eligible person or on behalf of an eligible person who is physically or visually or hearing impaired or mentally challenged.
Rebate information and application on vehicle purchase (provincial): Rebate is equal to the lesser of $3,750.00 or the provincial portion of the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) paid on the purchase of a motor vehicle by a person or to transport a person who has lost the complete use of both lower limbs.
Enabling Accessibility Fund (federal): This fund is a federal Grants and Contributions program that supports capital costs of construction and renovations related to improving accessibility in the workplace and community.
Disability Tax Credit (DTC) and other deductions (federal): The disability amount is a non-refundable tax credit that a person with a severe and prolonged impairment in physical or mental functions can claim to reduce the amount of income tax he or she has to pay in a year.
Registered Disability Savings Plans (RDSP) - federal: This is a savings plan intended to help parents and others save for the long term financial security of a person who is eligible for the disability tax credit.
Excise gasoline tax refund program (federal): This program refunds a portion of the federal excise tax on gasoline bought for use by eligible persons or organizations.
Canadian Pension Plan (federal): This program provides pensions and benefits when contributors retire, become disabled or die.
Business ACCESS-Ability Grant Program (provincial): Businesses can apply for a cost-shared grant to make accessibility-related improvements. Improvements can be for clients and customers, for employees - or both.
